Thursday Thoughts with Amazon best selling author Twyla Turner #darkromance #novelswithcurves #BWWM

thursday thoughtsWelcome to TOW feature Thursday’s Thoughts. When I have a chance, I share the thoughts of a featured author in the form of answers to questions I posed to them.

Today’s featured author is Twyla Turner .

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing professionally for nearly 4 years (Fall 2013). I wrote here and there all my life, but never seriously until recent years. I’d always hoped to eventually write seriously. I’m glad it finally hit me.

Do you have any hidden or uncommon talents?

Uh…not really. I like to sing and dance, but I don’t do them very much anymore. I used to be a karaoke queen. Ha!

What gives you inspiration for your book(s)?

Several different things. Some are literal fantasies of mine (Star-Struck, THR3E, Winter’s Beast). Others come to me out of nowhere or from a simple idea that blossoms into a fully fleshed out story (Chasing Day, The Red Scot). Other times it’ll come from a news story I hear or an experience someone else has had (Scarred, The Rescue).

What do you love most about the writing process?

When the story is flowing so well that the characters start writing the story for me.

What is your advice to someone new to writing?

I truly believe that if everyone writes the story they want to read that they’ll always be passionate about writing and someone in the world will want to read it. And something that I just truly started to understand is to always, always write the five senses. What does the character see, feel, hear, taste, and smell? If you write that it will fully immerse the reader into the story.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Watching some of my favorite shows (This Is Us, Outlander, Scandal, etc.). Go to the movies because I adore movies. And when my own stories aren’t getting in the way, I love to read. I’m a reader first and a writer second.

Who is Twyla Turner? I was born in Joliet, Illinois and was almost immediately enamored with all things entertainment and yearned for something “more”. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating a whole world from my mind. But it was a long winding road to self-publishing my first novel Star-Struck. An interest in science and animals, to wanting to be the next Oprah, majoring in radio/television with a minor in creative writing, to a year in Japan, four years in California and then to Arizona where a trip to spiritual Sedona awakened something in me and the need to write finally hit me like a brick wall. And once I started, the ideas flooded my brain like I never dreamed possible. My love of romance and travel, as well as my struggle with body image and the male species combined into wanting to write romance for ‘real’ women. I have 13 full-length novels to date and 2 novellas and my dark romance trilogy The Damaged Souls Series was a 2015 Amazon Bestseller. I have become known as a champion for the underdog and I’m only just getting started.

You can find her latest book here: http://bit.ly/wintersbeast

Winter’s Beast Blurb:

I had only one rule: Winter is mine. He defied me and captured her heart. Now they both must pay. Winter’s Beast is one part sugar and sweet, two parts sex and sweat. It is not your typical Romance and although it has a HEA, it’s a dark, twisty road to get there.

Thursday Thoughts with author L.A. Remenicky @remenickywrites

thursday thoughtsWelcome to TOW feature Thursday’s Thoughts. I share the thoughts of a featured author in the form of answers to questions I posed to them.

One of April’s featured authors is L.A Reminicky.

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing since November of 2012. I had been toying with an idea I had for a book when a friend introduced me to NaNoWriMo. I signed up, wrote over 50,000 words that month and that mess eventually became my first book, Saving Cassie which I released in 2013.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’m usually reading or playing on Facebook. I’m also trying to get healthier so I walk every day.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

The biggest thing is to start writing earlier, put that story down on paper that’s floating around in your head. And, to try and be more social.

Which celebrity actor would cast as your main character and why?

Alex O’Loughlin will always be my Logan. As the character came alive in my mind that’s the image I had of him.

Interested in learning more? L.A. Remenicky writes Love Stories With A Twist. She is a wife and mother of two fur kids. An avid reader all her life, she finally put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) during NaNoWriMo in 2012 and has never looked back. When she’s not typing away on her latest story with music playing in the background, she can usually be found spending time with her family and friends.

Thursday Thoughts with Award-winning author Christine Nolfi @christinenolfi

How long have you been writing?

First let me say, thank you for inviting me to post on The Opinionated Woman’s Musings blog. I’ve been walking around on happy feet since Booklist said my February 28th release “…has such a charming small-town vibe and endearing characters that readers will find themselves falling in love with quirky Sweet Lake and hoping for a series.”

Ok, back to the question. I can’t recall a time in childhood when I wasn’t writing stories. After college, I owned a small PR firm, and took on writing tasks for companies in northeast Ohio. Once my four adopted children were all in elementary school, I began writing novels fulltime.

If you’ve read the Liberty Series, you know I love writing stand-alone stories without cliffhangers, and with characters reappearing in later books. Creating a fictional town packed with eccentric, heartwarming people that readers will enjoy visiting time and again—is there anything more exciting? For me, there isn’t.

If you could be an animal, which would it be and why?

Years ago, I had reading by a medium who said mine was the spirit of the Great Black Wolf. It seemed a bizarre comment at the time. As I drove home, it dawned that I’ve always owned at least one dog. I was also born in the Chinese year of the dog, so it seems the choice has been made on my behalf.

What is your advice to someone new to writing?

Find a critique group of serious writers, with at least one published author in the group. Writing is a solitary occupation, and it helps to find the members of your tribe. If you’re not sure where to find a critique group, check with your local chapter of RWA (Romance Writers of America) or MWA (Mystery Writers of America).

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I’m the last woman alive who will freely admit she enjoys cleaning her house. For reasons unknown, great ideas for the next novel pop into my head while quietly ironing or mopping a floor. I also love to work out at the gym, cooking, gardening—and reading, of course!

Please tell us about your February release.

sweet-lake

In Sweet Lake, Linnie Wayfair battles to wrest control of the family’s inn, a historic Ohio landmark, from her flamboyant, filmmaker brother. During the tussle for control, she inadvertently sparks a romance with his attorney. Not that she thinks romance is a great idea: the tourist town of Sweet Lake, Ohio is dying. If she doesn’t turn the Wayfair Inn around, her beloved hometown will be all but shuttered.

She has help along the way from her two closest friends, Jada and Cat. She’s also aided by a group of older women in town who refuse to see the inn shut down. The Sweet Lake Sirens intervene on Linnie’s behalf in hilarious, and often poignant ways.

I don’t want to give all the fun away. Let me leave you with this quote from Kirkus Reviews: “The theme that ‘any event capable of breaking a woman could break her open instead, to reveal her true beauty and power’ reveals itself in surprising ways. In this uplifting and charming story, each room of the inn is filled with friendship, forgiveness, and love.”

Author Interview with @rathoreheena

I was glad to be part of Heena Rathore’s cover release for her novel. I used to review books on Heena’s blog The Reading Bud. Congrats that she is in the final stages of publishing her novel!

What book that you have read has most influenced your life?

First of all thanks a lot for having me on your blog.

Due to a lot of unfortunate circumstances, especially due to my parents Divorce, I used to be a very negative person. I was in depression for a very long time and was almost on the verge of having given up on everything by the age of 20. But then I came across The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and this book literally changed my life.

The change, of course, wasn’t instant. It took a lot of time (almost a year) for me to get the concept of gratitude and The Universe in its entirety, but once I did, I’ve never looked back.

What inspired you to write this book?

The only thing that inspired me to write this book was the unyielding urge to share this story with everyone. I love thrillers and I was sure that other thriller lovers would love to read this story.

What do you love most about the writing process?

To be honest, I’m not sure what it is that makes writing so special for me. It’s like breathing; I realize that I’m not happy when I don’t write for a few days in continuation. So I keep on writing to feel good and to keep sane. You can say that I can’t live without writing.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Reading or watching movies/series. These are only two things I do while not writing.

Do you have any hidden or uncommon talents?

I’m a pretty good chef. I love cooking and baking and fortunately, I’m really good at them.

Thursday’s Thoughts featuring author Jorja Tabu #BWWM #swirlromance

img_1291

Welcome to TOW bi-monthly feature Thursday’s Thoughts. On the second and fourth Thursday in the month, I share the thoughts of a featured author in the form of answers to questions posed to them.

One of November’s featured authors is Jorja Tabu.

How long have you been writing?

Forever.  Seriously.  The first book I wrote (and still have) was an epic My Little Ponies fantasy story when I was four years old.  I drew each page, all forty of them.  The daycare worker that diligently wrote down all of my brilliant thoughts in the little speech bubbles (I guess it was more of a graphic novel?) was named Heather–I am so thankful for all of the kind people that helped me along the way, and she was the first.

Who is the most famous person you ever met?

Doug Wilder, of course!  Richmond representing.

What do you consider to be your hidden or uncommon talent?

I love to hula hoop, but I’m not particularly talented; I’m better at cooking, which is much more common.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I am a very family oriented person, and picnics at the beach with my extended family and friends are the absolute best way to spend a day for me.  Especially while I hula-hoop badly, and make decent food 😉

Who is Jorja Tabu ? She is a self-proclaimed raunchy heretic and writer that dabbles in anything sultry, shiny, sexy, sin-bent or soulful. Her blog and twitter are the best places to catch ramblings about upcoming books, feminism, horror movies, and the many and varied reasons why Canada is sexy.

Book Blurb: Imani Cartwright left the rough world of her childhood in Virginia almost a decade ago. Among the broken pieces she abandoned were her best friend, Monica, and the ruined young man that swore he would love her forever, Roman O’Malley. Her brother, Tyreke, a passionate advocate who turns to the UFC to save their neighborhood, can’t forgive her for leaving.

She hasn’t spoken to anyone back home but her mother for over a year when the phone finally rings, and suddenly the rift between the past and her new life has grown too wide for anyone to cross… But Death.

When her brother is murdered Imani has no one but old friends and enemies to turn to. Did Roman O’Malley, UFC Prize-Fighter and her brother’s former best friend, kill Tyreke? What happened to Monica, the sweet young girl who was Imani’s best friend? And if they’re innocent, then who killed Ty?

A Galaxy of Scars spans a decade, an epic love, and contains rough language and adult sexuality and situations. It is meant for mature audiences.
