As Wade’s whirlwind romance with Chloe starts to stabilize, his ex-girlfriend turns up desperate to destroy what firm ground the two have forged. Wade’s love for Chloe has grown so deep that he’ll do anything to protect what he has with her – even if it means spinning a new web of lies.
The Agony of Betrayal
Still reeling from the double betrayal of her father and lover, Taylor barely regains her feet… only to fall in love all over again with her cheating lover. The attraction is so strong she can’t stop herself, even though she knows she must.
Matriarch and Mother
Seeing her daughter suffering is breaking Regina’s heart. She yearns to give all the help she can but… Ben is scheming to use Runway to financially back his bid for Governor. Will her struggles to keep her family safe come at the expense of her daughter?
Wade finally gives in and goes to his ex even though he knows he shouldn’t. But she ends up getting killed and the cops finger him as the killer. Only the real killer is still on the loose and hunting…
What a week it had been so far, and how had he spent it not touching her? She’d slept in this house two nights this week, right next to him, and he hadn’t touched her. She’d slept in his bed, on his sofa.
Within days the stress of what was going on around them had transformed them into that couple who merely existed together and did nothing.
“Wade.” She placed her hands on her hips and shifted her weight from one foot to the other, making her long blonde hair flow about her delicate shoulders.
Wade didn’t want to speak, because if he did he’d have to tell her what was going on, and he didn’t want to do that. Right now he just wanted to truly forget everything that was happening and leave it outside the house, outside the room, outside them.
His fingers yearned to touch her, his mouth to taste her. Wade moved away from the door and walked over to the woman who filled his fantasies. He reached out and cupped her face, loving the feel of her skin, loving the feel of the real her that rivaled any image he could possibly conjure up in his mind.
The real her was everything and more, enough to drive him wild for as long as he’d known her.

Jax is a firefighter who just saves his best friend’s sister from a hotel fire. He thinks Skye is sexy but did not make a move because he fears what his best friend would do to him.
Skye is trying to start a new business in her hometown while trying to steer clear of her overbearing brother. She convinces Jax to help her when she needs a place to stay. While in close proximity, their emotions reveal feelings that they have had for each other for years but never before acted on them.
This is my kind of book! My favorite trope is friends to lovers!
Jax and Skye were not besties, but friendly to each other. I still count this as a friends-to-lovers story because they knew each other for a long time before they got together. Plus they knew each other on a level outside of the romance. I believe this will contribute to a higher level of relationship success.
While I don’t mind violence (not gratuitous) in the story, I did not want Jax and Skye to have any conflict. The stalker aspect of the story was a bit over the top for me considering how sweet their love story was. I felt traumatized, like I had been the one kidnapped.
Other than that, the story flowed well. Skye’s brother Dane was super protective, but knew when to back off. Once they got together, he was pretty accepting of their whole romance. I hope the author has plans to write his story in a future book. It will be on my TBR list.
