Nightfall by Terry Bolryder

Opinion

I was gifted this book in hopes I would provide an honest review.

I was eagerly awaiting the receipt of this book because the first book in this series was so exciting to me. This series about nightmare dragons presents a different type of hero, and I am coming to terms with how much I love them.

We first meet Dare in the previous book when he kidnapped his brothers mate. Of course, we know that all of his anger and angst is just because he is misunderstood and lonely.
He has been trying to navigate the world for the last hundred years and while he does it somewhat successfully, he has something missing. It is hard not to root for a guy that has not had it easy in life. Early on I realized, that for all his bravado, he was a man who was lonely and did not want to put himself out there because he was scared of being vulnerable.

Sasha is always picking the wrong type of guy. It is because she has such a big heart and she is trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Most of all, she truly believes in the power of love. However, after her last horrible dating experience that ended up with her boyfriend at the time becoming nightmare dragon food, she has decided to give relationships a break. And while she knows that Dare is emotionally unavailable and totally not the person for her, she cannot help but to be drawn to him.

If you read Nathan‘s story (Midnight) , you know something about their affliction that Dare erroneously assumes for most of the book. I love it when the reader knows something that the character doesn’t.

TOW Final Word: Buy, Borrow, Pass?
BUY. Overall, I loved it. Like I said, I read it multiple times already.

FOODIE FRIDAY: Shorty’s Authentic Philly Steaks and Sandwiches @shortysnyc #phillysteak #NYCeats #hellskitchen

This Foodie Friday highlights Shorty’s Authentic Philly Steaks and Sandwiches, a restaurant in NYC Hell’s Kitchen (576 9th Avenue – 41st and 42nd).

Shorty’s claims to make “authentic philly steaks”. They say that the secret is in the type of bread that they use. That is why they ship their bread from Philly and bake it on site.

After walking around downtown, we worked up an appetite and hubs wanted a cheesesteak. Works for me. My friend suggested Shorty’s .

I asked, “Are they GOOD?”

She replied, “ That’s where I go.”

I trust her standards because she is a particular foodie like I am.

While he is a traditionalist, I am open to options. Thankfully, Shorty’s gave me a lot to choose from. There were 14 different types of philly steak sandwiches. All served wit’out fried onions unless you asked.

Hubby ordered Cheesesteak (steak, Whiz)
Hubs opinion: Cheesesteak was delicious. Quite possibly better than what he had from Philly. The meat was well seasoned with great meat to cheese ratio.

I ordered Nacho Steak (chicken, avocado, tomatoes, jalapenos, tortilla crunch, pepperjack)
TOW opinion: This is my new favorite way to eat a cheesesteak. I was sold when I saw it had avocado on it. Always order sandwich with avocado! LOL The jalapenos and the pepperjack cheese were not overpoweringly spicy but provided just enough heat so it was not bland. The meat was not dry (a common issue with chicken cheesesteaks). This was a hearty, yummy sandwich. And the tortilla strips added a little crunch for a change in texture. I would definitely order this again.

TOW Final Word
Check out Shorty’s especially if you like cheesesteaks. You will not be disappointed. I know I am going back the next time I am in NYC!

Alien Attraction – Cara Bristol

Opinion
I was gifted this book back in hopes I would provide an honest review. Every time I tried to write the review, i ended up rereading the book. I wanted to stay in this world, especially since everything works out in the end.

Right off, I was worried how the story was going to go because Sunny is trying to have a relationship that was real enough for the cameras but not too involved that she would break his heart when she left. I was stressed.

Are they going to make him look foolish for the ratings? How was he going to react when he found out about the cameras? Thankfully, he had his own little deception to keep him on edge.

Then when Sunny realized she wanted to be with him and wanted to keep it private, I hoped she could get rid of all the cameras. I liked her feisty attitude in dealing with the TV station. She knew they were exploiting her but she had her plan to use them. And she did what she could to “accidentally “ kill a few of their cameras along the way.

Even though I am usually a fan of the truth being revealed, in this case, I had hoped that he would get away with his little act of dishonesty.
I’m glad everything was resolved, with all the questions answered by the end.

Speed Mating #KU #shifterromance

Speed Mating – A Midnight Liaisons – Jessica Sims

Opinion
I did not get the sense in the beginning of the book that Estrella and Vic would get together. They didn’t seem as though they were interested in each other. They appear to care only for her well-being because he was her alpha.
Estrella seem to be very insecure because she was a mix between a lion and a tiger. Plus, she was supposedly sterile. It started to get repetitive to me. We get it. She is 6 feet tall and looks slightly intimidating. But that was mentioned over and over.
When she finally decided to drive her self at Vic I thought she could have done it differently. Maybe her heat was making her crazy and weird.

TOW Final Word: Buy, Borrow, Pass?
BORROW. Overall, the book was okay but I wish it had been longer and had more substance.
