SYNOPSIS

One break is all The Crow Brothers need and we’re about to get it.

Johnny Outlaw, rock legend and lead singer of The Resistance, is here to watch us play. But he’s not the only familiar face in the crowd—killer little body, heart-shaped face, and drop-dead gorgeous.

Hannah Nichols sitting at the bar makes it hard to concentrate, sparks already reigniting. The beauty was never a groupie and tonight she’s not here to catch our show. She came to drop a bomb. “You have a son.”

She underestimated me. I’ll prove to my son, and her, that I can be the dad he needs.

What is it about musicians? Why are they so damn sexy?

My heart was Jet Crow’s the moment he opened his sexy mouth and sang that first song. One stolen night with that man would never be enough, but I’m not here to fall into his bed. Again. I’m here to fight for custody of a son he’s never known.

There’s just one problem. Those sparks between us have become flames. If we’re not careful we’re both going to get burned.

SPARK EXCERPT

Prologue

Jet Crow

Subtle scents of cinnamon mix with the taste of whiskey on her skin. I lick her from collarbone to the back of her ear, her moans enticing me to take more than a gentle share of what I want.

I’m well past hooking up with groupies, but something drew me to the beautiful brunette. Under the bright spotlight of that stage, my eyes found hers as I sang about finding the missing piece of me. Maybe it was the way she pretended to not care, catching my eyes and then turning away as if she was too shy to come speak to me, but too good to be bothered. It didn’t matter. I was already caught up in her as much as she was caught up in me.

The set ended and I made my way over to the mystery woman, the one who hid in the dark of the bar just as two shots were served. I took the shot of Fireball and then took her home shortly after.

F***. She feels good.

Hard little body, but soft in all the right places. Tits that fill my large hands and legs that spread enough for me to squeeze between her thighs. I bet she wouldn’t reach my shoulders in heels. Speaking of, “Keep them on.”

I like the feel of the leather against my lower back, the hard heel scraping across my skin when she tries to power play me by tightening around my waist and pulling me closer. I didn’t ask her to my bedroom. I didn’t have a chance. What started out as laughing while we shared a two a.m. snack of Cheetos, hummus, and whiskey turned into me eating her as a snack on top of my kitchen counter. I don’t ever do that with a one-nighter, but damn if she didn’t make me want to break more rules with her.

She kisses me like a woman in need of water, taking as much as she wants while pressing her heels into my ass. The heat between us emanates until I’m dragging my shirt off to try to cool down.

I knew she was different the moment she opened her mouth back at the bar. “You sing rock with so much soul. Who hurt you?”

“No one gets close enough to do me any harm.”

“That’s a pity.”

“It’s a pity I’ve never been hurt?”

“No, it’s a pity you’ve never loved anyone enough to get hurt.”

My heart started beating for what felt like the first time as I looked into her sultry eyes. I could blame the booze, but I can’t lie to myself. She had me thinking twice on things I never considered once before.

Who was this woman?

Even with our stomachs full, we weren’t satisfied. She dragged me by the belt down the hall to my bedroom. Her clothes were off and mine quickly followed before we tumbled into bed.

Fast. I want to f*** her fast and hard, but every time our eyes connect there’s such sadness found in her grays that I slow down. Wanting her to hold contact, I cup her cheek. “Hannah?”

Her eyes slowly open, the long lashes framing the lust I find between them. “What?” she asks between heavy breaths.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m good.”

“Just making sure.”

She runs her hands up my neck and into the back of my hair. “I’m sure.” Pulling me down to her, our mouths are just a few inches apart when she whispers, “I want you. I want to do this.”

Shy isn’t something I’d call her considering we were in my bed two hours after meeting. I like a woman who knows what she wants. Hannah knows. And f*** if it isn’t a turn on that she wants me.

Sweet Bear O’ Mine #bearshifter #romance #review #amreading

Sweet Bear O’ Mine (Wild Harts: Rockstar Shifters Book 1)

3heart

Synopsis
Jax is in the band Wild Harts with his brothers. They are famous for performing before sold out crowds but are keeping a very important secret: they are all bear shifters. While playing at a festival, Jax sees Tiff and his bear knows that she is his mate.
Tiff does not usually listen to Wild Harts, but she attended the concert because her friend won VIP tickets. Back stage, she meets Jax but has serious doubts that he could be interested in her because she is a curvy big girl.
While Jax struggles to convince Tiff that they should be together, an unknown element is determined to keep them apart.

Opinion
This story was mildly entertaining. I was interested to see how the bear shifter aspect was going work since he was a famous singer. I thought that shifter types had to have plenty of room to let their inner animal out regularly. He cannot really do that while on tour. In that way, Jax was not like the stereotypical bear shifter, and I could not figure out what to expect.

I was not very emotionally drawn to Jax because he was the typical manwhore rock star. Because of that, I wondered why Tiff was so quick to give it up. She could not have been star struck considering she was not a fan in the first place.

Tiff had a lot of insecurities about why Jax chose her, as evidence that she constantly pointed out she was a big girl. I got tired of hearing about it. It was like a famous man has never dated an average size girl before.

On top of all of that, her so-called best friend was too shallow for me. Some of her sly “throw shade” comments was the probably the main reason for Tiff’s big girl complex.

Lastly, the sinister element was so predictable. It happened and was resolved so quickly, that I wondered if it really needed to be mentioned in the blurb as if it was a focal point of the story.
I also have a gripe with the cover of this book. That chick does not look plus-sized to me.

TOW Suggestion: Buy, Borrow, Pass
BORROW. It was not the worst book I ever read, but I finished it wishing that I could have tweaked aspects of the characters and the plot. You can read for free with KU. If you cannot borrow the book, then wait for it to be packaged in a bundle. Maybe if the author offers the series as a package set for a discounted price, it might be worth purchasing.

BLOG TOUR: Dirty Like Me @JaineDiamondXO #romanticcomedy #rockstar

Congratulations author Jaine Diamond on your book Dirty Like Me!

In a warm welcome fashion, I wanted to interview Janie Diamond so all TOW readers can get to know her a little better.

What is your favorite positive saying?

Love conquers all! That’s pretty much the underlying theme of all of my books… and romance books in general, I suppose.

What is your favorite film and why?

Oh, man. I’d have to say my favorite film of all time is Heat, with Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Val Kilmer. I guess I secretly love badass guys with guns (in fiction), which is why I’m feeling really tempted to write a motorcycle club romance or some other type of outlaw romance sometime soon-ish.

If you could be an animal, which would you be and why?

Does a unicorn count? I would totally be a unicorn. Because everyone loves unicorns, right?

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Hmm… I don’t know how interesting it is, but I can’t seem to get on board with the whole idea of just writing and then editing later. I can’t stop editing while I write. It drives me crazy if things aren’t all neat and tidy all along the way. I’m kind of obsessive about it; especially the first scene or chapter… I’ll rewrite and tweak it dozens of times to make sure I’m getting the story off on the right foot.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I spend a lot of time with my man and our little girl; she’s a year and a half and starting to talk, so she’s pretty entertaining. I read, a lot. And I spend a LOT of time daydreaming up ideas for my forthcoming books! Which is a really good way to spend time, since my books involve a lot of sexy stuff.

Dirty Like Me will be on sale for 99 cents Nov 7-11.

Book Blurb:

A gorgeous rock star.
An indecent proposal.
How can a girl resist?

Struggling barista Katie Bloom doesn’t even know who Jesse Mayes is until she inadvertently wins the coveted role of sex kitten in his hot new music video. But by the time she’s in bed with him, she knows his reputation.

Love maker. Heartbreaker.

Making out with a stranger in front of a camera crew isn’t how Katie imagined herself getting over a broken heart, but when Jesse touches her, sparks fly. The sex is fake but the chemistry is real, and soon the steamy video is blazing up the charts.

Then Jesse makes Katie an irresistible offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album. The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only.

Which is fine with Katie, since she’s not about to trust her heart to rock’s most legendary lover. Her body? Maybe…

Necessary Detour review

Necessary Detour ♥♥

Nikki is a rock star (stage name Goldy) who is looking for some rest and relaxation after retiring from the business. She has a stalker threatening her life, but that does not deter her from isolating herself in her house on the lake in a remote location. Pete is living in her neighbor’s house. The circumstances surrounding why he is there with his wife and son are really suspicious. There is attraction between them that they want to explore.

My issues with this story:

(1) Nikki’s life is in danger, but she insists on doing things that jeopardize her life. She knows the paparazzi are following her to get a picture, but she goes out in public in ridiculous outfits that draw more attention than detract. Dumb! Then, she would get frustrated when the paparazzi found her. For most of the book, I did not like her and was waiting for the stalker to catch her because of her failing to take sensible precautions.

(2) Pete seems to be married. Ummm. Yea. Since he is trying to give the appearance that he is married, then he should not be flirting with his neighbor. **Spoiler alert: He is not married.** But in the time that I thought he was, I was thinking he was really scummy for his actions. I could not settle into the romance until it was firmly established that Pete was not married. I do not care if the person is unhappily married. I frown on characters starting a relationship if he/she has not ended their marriage. Call me old fashioned.

(3) The last third of the book took a convoluted turn that threw me for a loop. It was as if it did not fit with the rest of the book.

Once I got past those points, the story was all right with fairly likeable characters (Pete more than Nikki). Besides the fact that Pete was not married, there were plenty of other twists that helped the story along.

Overall, if you want a contemporary, light suspense romance, you might like this. Keep in mind what I mentioned previously about the characters and you will be able to focus on the story better than I did. You might even rate it higher.
