Blog Tour: Sweetness by Sierra Hill @sierrahillbooks #sportsromance

Title: Sweetness
Series: The Sweetest Thing #1
Author: Sierra Hill
Genre: College Sports Romance
Published: July 25, 2016
I’m the girl from the school of hard knocks.

Nothing has ever come easy for me. So forgive me if I’m a bit reluctant about Kincaid Griffin – born-with-a-silver-spoon in his mouth, conceited college hoops player. A guy who could get any girl he wants, and yet, is suddenly everywhere I am trying to woo me. The more I protest, the more persistent he becomes.
I’m a lucky bastard.
Let’s face it. As a college athlete, I don’t chase girls – they come to me. I’m as arrogant and cocky as they come, getting nearly everything I want, whenever I want. But there is nothing sweeter than a girl who plays hard to get. And Ainsley Locker is so full of confidence that she knocks me off my feet from the moment I meet her. She’s a challenge. And I like challenges. So I go full-court press to win her over.
But when a stupid mistake turns viral, slam dunking all over my life in a media frenzy, my spot on the team may be in jeopardy, along with my shot at winning the girl.

“Sweetness is the perfect title for this book because that’s exactly what it is. Full of heart, full of humor, and full of hotness, this book is an easy 5 stars for me.” ~Keyanna (5 Star Amazon Review)

Since writing and publishing her first book in 2014, Sierra Hill has found her creative passion in writing about the fictional characters that live in her brain, who are constantly shouting for their own love stories to be told.

Sierra frequently indulges in what some might consider to be an unhealthy dose of reading, dark chocolate candy, and way too much coffee. She hates cold weather, and frequently finds herself traveling around the country to see her favorite live musicians in concert.
Sierra resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband of twenty years and her long-haired, German Shepherd. She is currently working on her next book.

The Alpha Lion’s Bride

4heart

Synopsis

Allison has relationship issues since her dad abandoned her mom when she was a child. She is working at a restaurant when she meets Trevor. He is her best friends’ boyfriend’s friend (not as convoluted as it seems).

Trevor is the alpha were-lion of his pride. From the first moment he met Allison, he decided she was his mate. He cannot understand why she is resisting the idea of them being together.

Opinon

I first mentioned this book in a post last year. I liked the book so much, I thought it deserved its own post. Since this was a short story, I expected the attraction had to move quickly. I also do not mind love-at-first sight in shifter books, since the “fated mates scenario” should mean they are destined to be together forever. However, when introduced to Trevor, I thought he was too intense.

Smelling her neck at the first meeting?

No wonder she was creeped out.

Kudos to the author for making Allison skeptical and difficult. She did not fall into bed just because he said so. Plus, there was an instance where she said yes but then changed her mind and said no. With so many books out there that blur the lines of consent, it is good to see the alpha male respect the woman’s right to say no, even if she had been agreeing previously.

Trevor was a serious alpha but met his match when it came to Allison. Once they got together and were on the same page relationship wise, they were heating up the sheets something serious.

Should you buy? Yes. If the book had been longer, I probably would have given an extra heart. I think it was a great short shifter were-lion story. There is a little conflict to move the story along. There was not a lot of romance in the beginning because Trevor did not understand the concept at first. He comes around and they have a happy ending.

I am looking forward to reading more from Alyse Zaftig!

Guest @hopeclark reviews her fave #restaurant in @edisto_beach @McConkeysJS #foodiefriday

This guest post is by C. Hope Clark from www.chopeclark.com

~~Every Visit to Edisto~~

My current mystery series takes place on Edisto Beach, South Carolina, a secluded, noncommercial piece of sand that reduces down to around 600 people off season, exploding to several thousand when weather turns warm. Having just released the series’ third book, Echoes of Edisto, I currently work on book four, which means yet another trip to the beach. Research, you know.

And a girl has to eat after sweating over all those words. At the beach, that means a dose of seafood here and there. The residents refuse to allow franchises, so that means each eating venue reigns unique. My restaurant preference depends on what I want to eat that day, but when I’m not sure, my go-to place is McConkey’s Jungle Shack on Jungle Road.

Trust me, the term shack is not used loosely. The handful of tables are set on a porch, cooled with fans and an over-worked air-conditioner in the summer (sorry, humidity stays), and warmed with porch heaters inside rolled down plastic sides in the winter. The months in between just means you eat outside under a roof. The kitchen is bigger than the dining area.

The wait staff all wear colorful t-shirts, often tie-dyed, with the Tarzan-looking character on a vine. I own six of those shirts, by the way, for the times I miss Edisto. The staff has worked there for ages, and the service has never failed me, usually with the food arriving way quicker than expected. The place may be small, but they can work a crowd like nobody’s business.

The menu has its regular favorites like fish tacos, fish and chips, shrimp, and hand-formed burgers (I prefer pimento cheese and jalapenos on mine, as does Callie Morgan in my books), and if you eat there, you’ll see them all come out of the kitchen, usually by your table on their way to another. The place isn’t big as a minute. A huge selection of beers and ale, and yes, wine.

But the main draw, in my opinion, is the homemade touch. All the desserts are from scratch, from bread pudding (yum) to peanut butter pie. And some days you see something entirely new on the dry erase board beside the kitchen entrance, simply because the cook had a different sweet tooth. In the winter I experienced the best black-bean soup I’ve ever tasted, again not on the regular menu. In the summer maybe a different sort of wrap. You never know until you show up what the specials might be.

I guess I deem McConkey’s symbolic of Edisto Beach, touting a name that has represented the area for almost 140 years. While the family’s history is quite colorful, and uniquely tragic, the restaurant is successful and sound, a beacon to all who arrive from the mainland. Take a seat at one of the hand painted, beach scene tables, enjoy the local paraphernalia hanging around the place, and don’t look for a dress code. Wear whatever you happen to have on because it’s more about relaxing and having a good meal. After all, you’re at the beach.

Oh, and by the way . . . the best sweet tea on the island.

BIO: Hope Clark’s newest mystery, Echoes of Edisto, is available August 5 wherever books are sold. Echoes is book three in this highly popular Edisto Island Mystery Series, and if you head south to the coast, chances are you’ll find a copy in most rentals on Edisto Beach, South Carolina as well as on the shelves of the Edisto Bookstore with all the other Hope Clark books. www.chopeclark.com

Edisto Island is a paradise where people escape from the mainstream world. Yet for newly sworn-in Edisto Police Chief Callie Jean Morgan, the trouble has just begun . . .

Photo Blogging #Challenge July 2016 theme: #photographer choice #photoblog #fun #influenster

july_results

July’s theme for the photo blogging challenge hosted by http://hoohaablog.com was Photographer’s Choice.

The hardest part about this was deciding which pictures to use. When the theme is whatever I want to share, that is really easy but really hard at the same time. Without further ado, my photo picks.

Photo #1
I received a sample of ZzzQuil from Influenster to try their product I’m exchange for an honest review. Click here to see my review on YouTube. In short, this product works as advertised. I slept well with no drowsiness the next day. I participated in an Instagram campaign to post the product reveal and I liked the picture I posted so much that I’m sharing here. This is for the sleep lovers!

In my plants on the porch of my house, I saw a baby lizard (I think it is a Green Anole -Anolis carolinensis). He was too cute and was being so still, I wanted to capture him on camera. He darted off as soon as the picture was taken.  🙂 Can you see him? He blends in so well with the green leaves.

Photo #3

A new donut shop opened in town. I love their box because it is so positive. Makes you feel good about eating donuts. YES! I DO deserve a donut! 😀

Photo #4
I had to go on a business trip and I at lunch at Volare in Hapeville, GA. I love the colors of this plate. It is grilled Atlantic salmon with a blueberry reduction, honeyed goat cheese and a side of whole grain rice. The salmon was superb! The blueberry reduction was slightly sweet and paired well with the goat cheese. It was creamy and tart with a hint of honeyed sweetness too. The dish had everything I wanted in a meal: salty, sweet, tangy, tart.

My bucket/ Life’s-to-do list has one less item on it. I went to my first Cirque du Soliel show in July. Ovo was playing at the Bon Secours Wellness Area. I decided back in April that I was going with or without any of my friends. I sent out the text and asked who wanted to go, and a few people responded in time for me to buy the tickets. We had a blast and enjoyed the show thoroughly. It makes you appreciate the dedication it must take for the performers to have that much control over their bodies to master such feats.

I had a fun filled month and cannot wait to see what August will bring 🙂

Latest Genre Binge: Alien-Human Woman #romance #scifiromance

As I have mentioned before, I sometimes get in a genre binge moods. I was feeling like some alien-human woman romances.

Amazon made some suggestions and I started clicking. In retrospect, I probably should have searched a little more. These books were short and mediocre at best. I tried to look for the positive though.

Caressed by the Savage Alien ♥♥

Plot in a nutshell: Viktor kidnaps Natasha because he feels she belongs to him.

TOW Opinion: He was a self-entitled jerk in the beginning. She had family and friends that loved and missed her. I was not used to that. My moral code dictates that only women that have no family or friends are allowed to be kidnapped. The only bright point was that she was able to get him wait before getting physical.

Rescued by the Alien ♥♥

Plot in a nutshell: Melody is kidnapped from her home and is sold to Garon from an alien slave market.

TOW Opinion: She was only 20 which is too young to be starting any relationship. The whole thing seemed really traumatic considering it was supposed to be a romance. The only bright point is that Garon was nice.

Waking up with the Alien ♥♥

Plot in a nutshell: Mary goes to sleep and wakes up on another planet where she is told she is to wife of Ac’von and made queen. Plus, they are changing her name.

TOW Opinion: I thought the author needed to hash out the plot a little more. The alien characters did not seem to have much patience for a person they just kidnapped. They brought a stranger to a totally new world, but expected her know how things worked on their planet. Plus, their race seems to have a lot barbaric traditions and a tinge of overwhelming misogynist tendencies.

Should you buy any of these? There are so many better books out there, BUT if you are looking for a little bit of evening reading entertainment, any of these might fit the bill. I do not read a lot alien-kidnapped woman romances to know if I am being too harsh with my rating. I do realize, there are readers who will like the book for exactly the reasons why I did not like it.
