Completed #atozchallenge @AprilAtoZ #reflections

I decided to participate in the A-to-Z challenge last April 2017 as a way to challenge myself to post more frequently. As expected, I was DRAINED!!!  So much so, this reflections post is about 2 months late. It was definitely a challenge this past month to get my posts done (almost the whole alphabet).

The hosts of this challenge decided this year that bloggers should post the link of their posts daily instead of a signing up at the beginning of the month. Because of this, I missed a lot of traffic that I had the last time I participated. Since this is a hobby, I prioritized going to my job that pays the bills and taking care of my grandmother over posting my links. Any who.

My theme was ROMANCE AUTHOR NAMES.

Photo Blogging #Challenge July 2016 theme: #photographer choice #photoblog #fun #influenster

july_results

July’s theme for the photo blogging challenge hosted by http://hoohaablog.com was Photographer’s Choice.

The hardest part about this was deciding which pictures to use. When the theme is whatever I want to share, that is really easy but really hard at the same time. Without further ado, my photo picks.

I received a sample of ZzzQuil from Influenster to try their product I’m exchange for an honest review. Click here to see my review on YouTube. In short, this product works as advertised. I slept well with no drowsiness the next day. I participated in an Instagram campaign to post the product reveal and I liked the picture I posted so much that I’m sharing here. This is for the sleep lovers!

Influenster is a product discovery platform that guides members to products that suit their interests and needs, as well as how to use them. To learn more or to sign up visit their website using this link www.influenster.com/r/1013305

In my plants on the porch of my house, I saw a baby lizard (I think it is a Green Anole -Anolis carolinensis). He was too cute and was being so still, I wanted to capture him on camera. He darted off as soon as the picture was taken.  🙂 Can you see him? He blends in so well with the green leaves.

A new donut shop opened in town. I love their box because it is so positive. Makes you feel good about eating donuts. YES! I DO deserve a donut! 😀

I had to go on a business trip and I at lunch at Volare in Hapeville, GA. I love the colors of this plate. It is grilled Atlantic salmon with a blueberry reduction, honeyed goat cheese and a side of whole grain rice. The salmon was superb! The blueberry reduction was slightly sweet and paired well with the goat cheese. It was creamy and tart with a hint of honeyed sweetness too. The dish had everything I wanted in a meal: salty, sweet, tangy, tart.

My bucket/ Life’s-to-do list has one less item on it. I went to my first Cirque du Soliel show in July. Ovo was playing at the Bon Secours Wellness Area. I decided back in April that I was going with or without any of my friends. I sent out the text and asked who wanted to go, and a few people responded in time for me to buy the tickets. We had a blast and enjoyed the show thoroughly. It makes you appreciate the dedication it must take for the performers to have that much control over their bodies to master such feats.

I had a fun filled month and cannot wait to see what August will bring 🙂

Photo Blogging #Challenge May 2015 theme: #Spring #photoblog

May 2015

May’s theme for the photo blogging challenge hosted by http://hoohaablog.com was Spring.

I did a lot in the month of May. So again, the hardest part about this was deciding which pictures to use. Enjoy! I welcome your comments 🙂

Every May, there is a golf tournament that is held in our community. It is part of the Symentra tour and the ladies participate to be able to get a card on the LPGA tour. I volunteer for help because it is a fun event. Plus, a portion of the proceeds go to local non-profits that promote women’s health issues. I worked at the scoring tent and was able to meet the golfers as they were finishing their round. Since they were finished for the day, they were more relaxed and talked more freely.

We went to Belize for a family reunion. My grandmother was born in Belize City and wanted us to get to know our extended family still living there. It was an awesome trip (future post about that). This is a view at the pool at our hotel Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza. Great hotel! I enjoyed taking in some sun. When it got too hot, I would dip into the pool.  🙂

My aunt and I went to Caye Caulker to go to the beach. This is a picture of sand on one of the tables that was at a restaurant. The table was in the water with an umbrella. We had our drinks while enjoying being in the water at the same time.  I really liked the color contrast of the sand and the table, so I took the picture.

On Memorial day weekend, the hubs and I went camping. This trip was planned since January so that we could get the spot we wanted at the campground. We went fishing. This is the first time for me in the last 20 years. I could this little bugger. He ate my worm but was too small to keep. We threw him back.

On the same camping trip, we went for a nature hike. This was one of the views we saw. The lake has only been in existence for about 40 years when the dam was built. The dead trees shown were there before the area was flooded and turned into a lake. I did not know that. Hubs explained the history. Random thought: I love the sky in this picture.

BONUS picture!!!
This is a picture of our glowing campfire coals. I am mesmerized by hot coals because you can see the heat emanating from them. Plus, I want to touch even though I know it would burn my skin off.

 10 Favorite Foods

I love to eat. It was hard to narrow down my 10 favorite foods. In the end, I tried to think of foods do I eat the most regularly because I think they are super tasty.

1 Bacon (this goes without saying)

2 French Fries (I like the shoestring skinny fries the best, especially when paired with malt vinegar)
3 Strawberries (I had some fresh picked strawberries the other day, and YUM)
4 Chicken (chicken nuggets or strips or fried or BBQ or grilled- all good to me)
5 Avocado (with a sprinkle of salt and squeeze of lime- makes a great snack)
6 Chocolate (salted chocolate caramels…need I say more?)

7 Fried Rice (when done right is addictive-ly delicious)
8 Ice cream (I believe I do not a single person who does not like ice cream)
9 Lamb chops (when I like to splurge)
10 Salad (if none of the above available 🙂 )

5 Favorite Songs

1 Satellite – Dave Matthews Band
2 At Last – Etta James
3 Kal Ho Naa Ho – Shakruk Khan, Saif, Preity
4 Breathe Me – Sia
5 Chasing Pavements – Adele

Kal Ho Naa Ho (English: There May Or May Not Be A Tomorrow) is such a sad song but it is so pretty. I listened to it before I even knew what it meant because I liked the melody. Then when I saw it with English subtitles and read the synopsis of the movie with the same name, I fell in love with this song. I am not usually a person who likes love triangles, but it seems that in Bollywood, that is a common plot line.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kal_Ho_Naa_Ho
